Eric, Give me a dozen of those baits and Ill give you a dive table this fall. Dan told me you were running the bait with 125 of line out and tagging bottom. I would look for a bait that hits that depth with a similar amount of line out and use that dive curve for now. Should be fairly close to the same curve. -Ed Ed Stachowski

I had some great luck with the minnow rap this past week trolling for suspended wallye. I was trolling them at 150 back (which I thought would maximize their trolling depth). Anyway I was impressed with this bait. Buster

Eric, I had talk to Mark Romanack awhile ago about the TDD-9 and the Rapala Minnow Rap MR-9. He told me that he didnt have time last year to test the TDD-9 but he said that it should run close to the same depth as the Deep Tail Dancer TDD-11. He also said that he would e-mail me later this year when he has more info. I dont know if you have any Minnow Raps but the info he share with me on that was at 200 ft. back it got down to 11 ft. That happens to be the same as the 7 Shad Rap. When I her from him on the TDD-9 I could let you know. Chad Fish On

As far as I can tell, the original Deep Taildancer (TDD 11) is in the 8th edition of Precision Trolling. The new TDD 9 version which dives to 20 ft is not in there. From my limited use with the new TDD 9 version I "think" that it gets down to 20ft with 150ft of 10lb mono, as 150ft. of 10lb mono gets the TDD 11 model down 30ft. depending on speed. Just remember that those dive curves are on flat calm condtions. Hope this helps and good fishing! Tom Dexter

I dont know how this all fits into the business scheme of Mark Romanack and the others involved w/ the Precision Trolling book series (no disrespect intended there whatsoever -- businesses need to make money to stay in business), but Id like to see an online subscription of some kind offered... Im not suggesting that it replace the purchase of the hard copy book, but in addition to... That way, you buy the book, and then get a unique ID to get onto a website with the purchase of the book to get dive curves for the latest cranks before they can be published. I would gladly pay a few extra bucks each year to renew my subscription and get the most current available data on the new baits each season. If the info is already out there, might as well make it available to existing customers as quickly as possible. As it stands now, the book is a fine deal to purchase each season at $25... I never think twice. But I currently own the most recent version of the book and I still find myself fishing with at least a half dozen baits that arent detailed in the book. I realize the book has to be reactive, as there cant be data available until the baits are available... but using the speed of the internet could definitely quicken that reaction time. Heck, maybe something like this already exists and one of you can direct me towards it -- always looking for a better mouse... (er, walleye) trap! I appreciate the information, but guess it will remain a mystery! I talked with Rapala and they said they could not provide me with that information since it would violate their agreement with Precison Trolling. It seems odd that a manufacturer cant provide information related to their products!?!? I guess theyre not making enough money on $7.50 lures.

I dont have the exact information you are looking for but until you get your answer, Ive heard the deep tail dancers very nearly follow the dive curve of the largest deep reefrunner model. Hang in there =====("")====("")===== This message was edited by Ristorapper on 5-21-07 @ 6:52 PM

Mark... Can you please confirm that you are looking at the Deep Tail Dancer (TDD 09) and not the Tail Dancer (TD 09). I checked the 8th edition and only saw the Tail Dancer and not the Deep version. Thanks... Eric

That lure is in the ... according to that, you wewre fishing down around 7 to 8 feet ... could be those fish were coming up to eat the bait, or that there were higher fish than you were targeting. I really suggest you look into getting a copy of ... an invaluable reference book for trolling! Does anyone have dive curve information on the Rapala Deep Tail Dancer (TDD 09)? I read that 65 line out was 20 down using 10# mono. I fished it this weekend 45-50 back targetting fish at 14-15 down in 18 of water. I caught a lot of fish, but there were so many fish in Bolles Harbor Im not sure I was catching the fish I was targetting! Thanks in advance for your help... Eric
