New Lure at Butler Fishing Show

I went to the fishing show in Butler and came across the new Shayla Shad XL from Leo Lures.  It is an 8 inch version of the orginal 5 1/2 inch Shayla shad.  I have always liked the action of the orginal shayla but felt is was on the small side for muskie.  It is a really good looking bait and the perch patterns are fantastic looking.  The top lure is a Smuttly Dog.  I had to give it a try since the finish and construction seemed so good.

Those are pretty cool-looking. How was the Butler show?

I went late and did a quick look around.  Talking to the vendors I got a mixed review of good to ok sales there.  There was a good offering of baits that you dont see at rollie and helens and thorne bros so it was good that I saw many items I normally cannot find.  The format was that the vendors got the floor space for only $50. They just had to pay the normal entry fee also.  The proceeds when to the church cancer fund of the church that provided the building.

Someone needs to set up a booth for just terminal tackle.  Hooks, spit rings, various leaders etc.  I think they would be busy.

Here are some links with details on the show.  You can click on the box on the left of the webpage and see all the vendors that were present:

Also coming up March 8-9th is:

The muskie max show is supposed to be quite a bit larger than the butler show was.  I am done buying lures this spring anyway.  I ended up having Leo Lures make me 2 custom shayla xl lures and considering that I have 3 boxes full of lures I really dont "need" any more lures.
